Die Stadt Wien hat über eine Rechtskanzlei die Kampagne BDS Austria wegen eines von Unbekannt in Wien angebrachten Plakats auf den Streitwert von 35.000 Euro angezeigt. Jenes Plakat zeigt den israelischen Sperrwall mit einem Graffiti „Free Palestine“, dahinter die Stadt Al-Quds/Jerusalem, verdeckt vom Sperrwall. Am Plakat stehen die Worte: „VISIT APARTHEID“. Da das Plakat auf die Glasplatte einfach aufgeklebt wurde und ein darunter angebrachtes Plakat des „Fonds Soziales Wien“ der Stadt Wien nur teilweise abdeckte, war das Logo der Stadt Wien sichtbar.
Die Stadt Wien behauptet in ihrer Anzeige, dass das Plakat der BDS-Bewegung zuzurechnen wäre (unter anderem mit der Argumentation die Parole „Free Palestine“ und die Bezeichnung der israelischen Apartheid als Apartheid sei ausschließlich Thema der BDS-Bewegung).
Da BDS Austria ein Foto von dieser Plakatfläche mit dem inkriminierten Plakat auf ihren social media Kanälen mit dem Text „Wir freuen uns, dass auch die Stadt Wien die Apartheid in Israel zur Kenntnis nimmt und öffentlich plakatiert (Zwinkersmiley)“ veröffentlicht hat, begehrt die Stadt Wien einerseits einen Widerruf, andererseits Schadensersatz.
Die Stadt Wien behauptet unter anderem: SympathisantInnen der BDS Bewegung und jene Personen, die unsere Medien besuchen, hätten wegen dieses Postings vom 29.8.2021 und vom 1.9.2021 annehmen müssen, dass die Stadt Wien die Apartheid in Israel zu Kenntnis genommen und es sogar öffentlich plakatiert hätte. Die Stadt Wien ignoriert dabei ganz bewusst das zwinkernde Emoij, das diesem Satz im Posting hinzugefügt und damit als ironischer Kommentar deutlich gemacht war.
Die Stadt Wien unterstellt außerdem absurderweise, dass die BDS-Bewegung mit der vermeintlich ernstzunehmenden Behauptung, die Stadt Wien nehme das Verbrechen der Apartheid in Israel zur Kenntnis, Spenden für die BDS-Kampagne zu lukrieren trachte.
Wir, BDS-Austria, sind davon überzeugt, dass niemand auch nur einen Augenblick lang glaubt, dass BDS von der Stadt Wien unterstützt wird und das Plakat von BDS Austria stammt. Ganz im Gegenteil unterstützt die Stadt Wien doch die Österreichisch-Israelische Gesellschaft und erlaubt dieser die Benutzung ihres Logos (https://www.oeig.at/). Es ist bekannt, dass diese absolut pro-israelische Institutionen die BDS-Bewegung bekämpfen und ihr Präsident zugleich als Gemeinderatsmitglied an der „Ächtung“ der BDS Bewegung beteiligt ist (sogenannte „Gemeinderatsbeschluss“).
In diesem hat die Stadt Wien seit Juni 2018 beschlossen, der BDS-Bewegung keine städtischen Räume mehr für Kampagnen, Veranstaltungen, oder Ausstellungen zur Verfügung zu stellen und droht Vereinen und Institutionen, die Räumlichkeiten an BDS Austria vermieten mit Streichung sämtlicher Subventionen.
Wenn tatsächlich jemand denken würde, dass die Stadt Wien endlich
Solidarität gegenüber dem palästinensischen Volk gezeigt hätte, müssen
wir ihn/sie leider enttäuschen: Die Stadt Wien findet, dass die
Unterstützung der BDS Menschenrechts-Bewegung für sie beleidigend und kreditschädigend wäre.
Deshalb schreiben wir hier nochmal ganz klar und deutlich:
DIE STADT WIEN HAT DIE BDS-BEWEGUNG NIE UNTERSTÜTZT. SIE HAT BDS-AUSTRIA VÖLLIG GRUND- und HALTLOS AUF SCHADENERSATZ GEKLAGT!
Das ist ein weiteres Beispiel dafür, wie schikanös die Stadt Wien mit VertreterInnen der Zivilgesellschaft umgeht, deren Meinungen ihr nicht in den Kram passen.
Es sagt sehr viel darüber aus, wie es diese Stadt mit den Menschenrechten
hält und wie sehr sie die koloniale, israelische Politik der ethnischen Säuberung und der Apartheid gegenüber den PalästinenserInnen befürwortet und ideologisch unterstützt.

The City of Vienna has reported the BDS Austria campaign through a law firm because of a poster placed by unknown persons in Vienna with the amount of dispute of 35,000 euros. That poster shows the Israeli annexation wall with a graffiti „Free Palestine“, behind it the city of Al-Quds/Jerusalem, covered by the wall. The words: „VISIT APARTHEID“ are on the poster. As the poster was simply stuck to the glass plate and only partially covered a poster of the “Vienna Social Fund” of the City of Vienna, the logo of the City of Vienna was visible.
The City of Vienna claims in its advertisement that the poster is attributable to the BDS movement (among other things, including the argumentation that the slogan “Free Palestine” and the designation of Israeli apartheid as apartheid is exclusively the subject of the BDS movement).
Since BDS Austria has published a photo of this poster area with the incriminated poster on its social media channels with the text „We are pleased that the City of Vienna has also taken note of apartheid in Israel and posted it publicly (wink smiley)“, the city of Vienna is on the one hand demanding a revocation, as well as a compensation on the other.
The city of Vienna claims among other things that: sympathizers of the BDS movement and those who visit our social media have to assume because of this posting on August 29, 2021 and September 1, 2021 that the City of Vienna had taken note of apartheid in Israel and even posted it publicly. The City deliberately ignores the winking emoij that was added to this sentence in the posting and thus made it clear to be an ironic comment.
The City of Vienna also absurdly assumes that the BDS movement is trying to raise donations for the BDS campaign with the allegedly serious claim that the city of Vienna is aware of the apartheid crime in Israel.
We, BDS-Austria, are convinced that nobody believes that BDS is supported by the City of Vienna and that the poster comes from BDS Austria. On the contrary, the City of Vienna supports the Austro-Israeli Society and allows them to use their logo (https://www.oeig.at/). It is known that these absolutely pro-Israeli institutions are fighting the BDS movement and that their president is also involved in the “ostracism” of the BDS movement as a councillor (so-called “council decision”).
In June 2018, the City of Vienna decided to end the BDS movement’s access to urban spaces for campaigns, events or exhibitions and threatens associations and institutions that rent premises to BDS Austria with the cancellation of all subsidies.
If somebody actually thought that the city of Vienna should finally have shown solidarity with the Palestinian people, we have to unfortunately disappoint them: the City of Vienna thinks that supporting the human rights movement BDS would be an insulting and credit-damaging thing for them.
That is why we write here again very clearly and distinctly:
THE CITY OF VIENNA NEVER SUPPORTED THE BDS MOVEMENT. IT SUED BDS AUSTRIA FOR FINANCIAL COMPENSATION ON A UNFOUNDED AND GROUNDLESS BASIS!
This is another example of how obstructively the City of Vienna is with representatives of civil society whose opinions do not fit the City.
It says a lot about how this city treats human rights and how much they advocate and ideologically support the colonial Israeli policy of ethnic cleansing and apartheid against the Palestinians.
